Service Distribution Units

Service distribution units or SDU's are purpose made stainless steel enclosures designed to house the various piped and electrical services between the point at which they enter the kitchen and the cooking appliance. Each unit will be sized to suit the particular services being used in the kitchen, and to ensure compatibility, be totally integrated with the canopy being installed above.

Each unit normally comprises two columns, one to house the electrical works and one to provide the piped services such as hot and cold water, drinking water, steam, condense, waste, gas and compressed air. Controls for the fire suppression system are normally housed within the electrical column.

The horizontal raceway or spine running between the columns, is the section of the distribution unit from which the connections to the cooking equipment are made.

All connections between the spine and the cooking equipment can be made using quick-release connections. The Mechline coupling system can also be incorporated into our units to avoid unnecessary and unsightly trailing leads and restraining chains.

The units, which can be either wall-mounted or island type, provide for single point connections for all site services, thus avoiding the conventional uncoordinated installation. Space can be allocated to allow for future expansion and access is provided to the interior of the distribution unit by either hinged or removable doors.
DPL can provide either a fully fitted-out system, or purely the stainless steel housing for the installation of plumbing, electrical, and fire protection services by others. We offer two types of construction based on either a self-supporting folded assembly, or one comprising a clad structure.
